Fully restored 1945 Dodge WC51 for sale!
This vehicle was a surplus purchase after WW2 and was used as a farm vehicle in Bandera, Texas. I purchased the vehicle in February, 2012 and began a full restoration project that was completed in June, 2014. During the project the vehicle was totally disassembled and all parts were blasted or detailed as required. All metal was treated, primed and painted. The major restoration work included:
Frame and suspension components
Cab, engine compartment, metal portion of the cargo bed
Fabrication of oak body panels for the interior of the cargo bed
Engine, transmission, differential and axles were totally rebuilt.
All gauges were restored or replaced.
New electrical harness was fabricated and all electrical components were repaired or replaced.
Radiator was rebuilt and original gas tank was totally restored and coated.
Seats were rebuilt and covered with new canvas.
All new cargo bed canvas was fabricated by New Life Canvas.
Brake components, lines and fuel lines were replaced..
The vehicle is located 40 miles north of San Antonio. It has a current Texas title and a copy of the Dodge build card from the Chrysler museum. The vehicle was autographed in 2014 by LTC Dick Cole who as Jimmy Doolittle’s co-pilot and the last survivor of the Tokyo bombing raid.
