Fall Trail Ride

Fall Trail Ride

We were offered a unique opportunity this fall. My good friend Paul is friends with Jeff and his family near Menomonie, WI. They own a managed forest preserve of near 500 acres. They have cut trails thru the whole property and by the following pictures you will agree, totally beautiful. We did not get the turn out we had hoped from the club, but perhaps next year after seeing this more will come. We did get an M38, GPW, M37, WC 58, and an M38A1 out for the ride.

Managed section of the property where clear cut harvesting was used. They do this in small sections at a time.

Looking back down the steepest incline we engaged. This clear cut section produced a rather large whitetail when we drove in.

John F. and his M37 lost traction. Time to lock the hubs in! Then he made it up. A good laugh was had as I did not have to even engage the 4WD on my WC 58 to make it.

You just can't buy this kind of scenery or view. This was looking north from the highest point on the property.

Our trail ride crew. That's me holding on to my "mini me" son, Braden! We wore blaze orange that day because the state youth hunt was on. Photo on the right is a good shot of two cousins.

A nice clearing that is maintained in the middle of the property. All around it are plantations of Spruce and White Pines. What a nice smell that was.

Can you tell what it is?
Can you tell what it is? We discovered an early 1920's or 30"s touring sedan in the ruins of an old farm building. Surprisingly, the sheet metal was in great condition. There is talk of doing an achealogical dig in the spring.
